ARTIST RELATIONS INTERNSHIP

We are seeking an A&R intern…

This candidate will be responsible for assisting the A&R Representatives, finding new talent, overseeing musical projects, and basic talent management. Every intern is assigned a special project that will both assist them in increasing their understanding of how each department operates, and aid the department in addressing a business need. We value our interns and work to ensure a mutually rewarding experience.

Responsibilities:

Working within the A&R team to cultivate and manage relationships with our current roster of talent and oversee their musical projects. Coordinating with Business Development & Marketing teams. Monitoring results of the firm’s public and media relations efforts for assigned artists. Identifying new talent that fits the organization’s current and growing roster.

Requirements:

To qualify for an internship with Manic Kat Records you must: Be a junior in college with a focus in communications, marketing or music business. Make a commitment of at least 15 hours per week. Excellent time management skills. Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment. EITHER have a major related to music business OR express how your experience and passion in music business translates to this position. Credit towards college internships.

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP

Reporting to the Label Manager, this is a unique opportunity to receive project-based work that requires strategy, teamwork, ingenuity, and creativity, as well as tactical responsibilities that expose the intern first-hand to the experiences of a full-time Graphic Design professional.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist team by generating concepts, problem solving and design of new artists’ cover art, tour posters, various marketing and sales materials.
  • Work on all aspects of packaging including graphic layout, packaging structure concept, logo design, typography, print production and photography (including photo retouching and assisting at photo shoots).

Qualifications:

  • Strong typography
  • Strong conceptual skills
  • Experience with packaging design is a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people of all levels and in a team environment

LABEL ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP

Independent Record Label, Manic Kat Records, is seeking a Label Assistant will provide administrative support to Management and will be reporting directly to the President of the label.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between the label and a wide array of internal and external contacts including senior management, outside industry contacts, artists, artist managers, vendors, internal departments, etc.
  • Schedule meetings, arrange travel, answer phones, and provide overall administrative support to the team.
  • Prepare business expense reports in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Oversee general office needs.
  • Attend meetings and events as required.
  • Maintain database of artist management and booking contacts.
  • Keep current with buzz artists, see artists perform live, and listen to music to identify opportunities.
  • Remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on daily Billboard, Soundscan, BDS, R&R, Mediabase, and other trade magazines/publications for music news and relevant information.
  • Analyze sales, marketing, radio, and insights information.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate MUST be at least a Sophomore or Junior in College AND MUST be seeking an internship for college credit.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook) and an intimate knowledge of the internet.
  • A proactive, flexible, self-starter who has strong problem solving, social, writing and interpersonal skills. Exceptional communication and time management skills. Must be able to work independently but be a team player and flexible in a fast-paced environment. The ability to manage time and priorities, set and achieve goals and juggle multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously.

PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERNSHIP

Based in Pomona, NY, Manic Kat Records’ Public Relations internship program offers college students and recent graduates the opportunity to learn and develop the skills necessary for a successful career in the public relations field.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience researching and building media lists, learning to comfortably and proactively pitch reporters, coordinating editorial coverage results, writing press releases and editorial pitch letters, social media marketing for consumer products, brainstorming, planning, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Intern candidates must have good communication/people skills, strong writing skills, be comfortable speaking on the phone, creativity, and have a genuine interest in public relations.
  • Recent graduates (with a degree in PR, communications or marketing) or current students studying PR, journalism, marketing communications, or communications are preferred.
  • This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on public relations experience in a friendly and energetic atmosphere.

RECORDING ENGINEER INTERNSHIP

We are looking to hire new Recording Studio Engineer Interns to assist in recording/engineering needs for our in-house studio. We are looking forward to meeting anyone who is prompt, professional, and ready to learn new things as they pertain to the recording industry. You must be ready and willing to commit 2-3 days a week for your duration.

SOCIAL AND DIGITAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

The Social and Digital Media Intern will play an active role in the development of Manic Kat Records’ online community. The intern will maintain Manic Kat Records’ presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our customer base. He/she will regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks as well as the company website.

He/she will also assist in maintaining Manic Kat Records’ archive of digital images, videos, and other content. The intern will learn how to reach communities, and promote events or programs through the internet and gain experience in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance.

Responsibilities:

Social Media

  • Updates Instagram account.
  • Responds to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with Manic Kat Records.
  • Posts updates, news and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content.
  • Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our fan base and posts it to our Instagram page in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.
  • Updates Instagram account with current and relevant photos, video, or other content from company activities and events.
  • Grows company’s online social networks by increasing fan-base and interactions.
  • Completes other social media projects as assigned.

Digital Media

  • Takes pictures and videos of shows and label events to be developed into content for the company’s website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
  • Organizes and archives digital images and videos.
  • Completes other digital media projects as assigned.

Research

  • Regularly observes the online activity of model organizations researches and reports on “social media best practices.”
  • Completes other research projects as assigned.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the company website.
  • Uses Facebook Insights to assess trends and activity on the cFacebook page.
  • Uses Twitter Analytics to assess trends and activity on the Talerang Twitter page.
  • Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach.

Requirements:

  • Creative self-starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be a junior in college with a focus in advertising, public relations, marketing or music business
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, basic photo-editing and video-editing software, and internet browsers. Experience with Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
  • Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat.
  • Available to work 15 hours per week.

Eligibility:

  • This is a part-time internship and we require that you bring your own computer to complete internship projects and tasks.

Candidates should maintain a positive attitude under pressure, exhibit a strong work ethic, and enjoy working with a wide range of personalities. Most importantly, the candidate should be flexible and willing to take on multiple tasks in a start-up environment. TOUR BOOKING INTERNSHIP

Are you interested in understanding why venues choose a specific talent or act to play at their particular venue? The Booking Assistant internship with Manic Kat Records will give you a first hand look at what goes on behind the scenes to get talent booked at various venues across the globe. Interns will be assisting the booking agents with venue research, client relations, talent relations, talent scheduling, accounting, itineraries and artist management.

Applicants must be strong in verbal and written communication skills, organization, multitasking, and knowledge of various music genres. Most importantly, applicants must love music!
